After Carl finished his studies in Mechanical Engineering at RMIT he then went on to study Horticulture at Burnley College before starting up Powerplants. Today Powerplants is one of Australia’s leading suppliers of horticultural technical systems, greenhouse equipment and supplies. With increased competition and other pressures on greenhouse growers, the need for technical knowledge and backup is more vital today than ever, and Powerplants is well known for staying abreast of the latest developments in technology that can improve your commercial greenhouse business.
Powerplants is a founding member of the Hortworks Group, which is a partnership between Powerplants and Sydney-based company AIS Greenworks. Together we offer growers a total and integrated solution in products and systems for growers - from hand-held instruments to small or large turnkey projects.
Today the Powerplants team is led by Carl van Loon and Simon Gomme who joined the company in 2011 as joint Director. Carl and Simon together with the highly trained staff at Powerplants are dedicated to providing solutions to Australian growers with expertise and professional service.
