Greenhouse Climate Control Systems: Automation and Control with a Minigrow Computer
The Minigrow. The Powerplants Minigrow Controller is a is a compact, inexpensive and easy to use climate controller that effectively controls the numerous factors that affect the climate in commercial greenhouses. With four relay outputs that can switch 24V AC or DC, it can accept signals from a number of different sensors. It has a large, easy to read, backlit display and asks questions in plain English.
The Powerplants Minigrow Controller allows greenhouse growers the peace of mind they need to know that the variables that make a difference in their greenhouse crop production are in control.
What Does the Minigrow Control?
- The Minigrow Vent Controller controls one set of vents. It measures temperature, humidity, wind speed and rain (optional). It uses these measurements to proportionally open the vents.
- The Minigrow Screen Controller controls one to two sets of screens. It measures temperature, humidity, light and rain (optional) and can be configured for indoor or outdoor use.
- The Minigrow Fog Controller controls one or two separate fogging zones independently. It measures temperature and humidity in each zone and maintains a set humidity, with temperature overrides.
- The Minigrow Mist & Irrigation Controller (Solar) controls up to four misting or irrigation valves independently. It measures solar radiation and sets off misting or irrigation when the accumulated solar energy reaches a set target (in Joules), for a set on-time, then starts accumulating again. It therefore mists or irrigates more often on sunny days than cloudy days and has time-based backups.
- The Minigrow Mist & Irrigation Controller (Moisture) controls up to three irrigation zones independently, based on 2 new kinds of moisture sensors. For misting, it uses a new capacitance moisture sensor that sits amongst the plants. For irrigation, it uses a moisture sensor that is pushed directly into the soil or media. Both give a moisture percentage level and the solenoid will be off for a set time when the moisture level gets below a set level. There are also time-based backups in case of sensor failure.
- There are software versions with combinations of the above
applications.
