Priva’s knowledge spreads into Oceania

Priva at Chilsom

One of Priva’s primary goals is to supply their customers and dealers with state of the art knowledge and support. They aim to do that for their own products and services, as well as for the art of growing in a broader sense. Thus, they share their knowledge all over the world. This knowledge is now also spreading into Oceania via the Chisholm Institute.

It has recently become possible for Priva solutions users and dealers in Australia and New Zealand to attend training courses at the Chisholm’s Institute of TAFE's Controlled Environment Horticulture Unit in Melbourne. The institute provides training courses for the controlled horticulture industry. It possesses the only purpose-built glasshouse training facility in Australia, which is also the home of one of the Priva International training centres.

Priva participates and facilitates

The training facility was opened in the summer of last year by Priva's general director Meiny Prins. Priva participates in training courses, teaching material, software and knowledge. Priva also provides the institute with systems and control equipment so that trainees can work with the latest technology.

Special Priva training courses

The training centre provides training courses and training that updates growers with the latest technology for increasing yields, substrate cultivation, saving water and the use of control agents. Dealers and end users of Priva solutions can also go there for training courses in using the technology of specific systems such as the Priva Connext process computer and the PrivAssist labour registration system.

Trainers settled in

The first dealer training courses at Chisholm were provided by Priva Engineer Koos Wijsman, who was flown over from the Netherlands especially for this. He also used the opportunity to exchange knowledge with local trainers Tony Burdock and Peter Boyd. The dealers, Powerplants, Horticom, Agcon and Commercial Glasshouses were familiarized with the new Priva Connext process computer. Connext has therefore now been introduced into Oceania and can be fully supported by the dealers.

Upward trend

According to Koos Wijsman the institute meets a significant need in Australia and New Zealand. 'More and more companies are striving for a higher level of cultivation. Some entrepreneurs are already working at the level of the major European growers. There really is an upward trend. But there is still some headway to be made. We are happy to make a contribution to this through training courses and instruction.'
